    First Women Justice of the Supreme Court.
    Bertha Wilson became the Justice of the Supreme Court on March 4, 1982. She was the first women justice in the Supreme Court. It is significant because this shows the rise of women's rights and status in Canada. And the improvement in women's right helped the society to evolve and made Canada a better country.
  • Consititution Act

    Consititution Act
    Elizabeth II, the Queen of Britain and Canada, approved this act (with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms) in Ottawa on 17 April, 1982, which made this act become official for Canada. This Act allows Canadian to have their own constitution and they can change it anytime by themselves. Also, the rights of Canadian citizens are protected.

    Canada, Mexico and the U.S. signed a treaty called the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in1994. Under this treaty, certain goods traded between these countries are tax-free, and it affected their economies in a positive way. In addition, it shows that the whole North America is united.

    This vote was the second referendum to let the people choose that if the Quebec should be independent or not. 50.58% of the people voted do not separate Quebec from Canada and 49.42% voted Quebec should be independent, people who desired unification won the vote with very small advantage, and finally Quebec got to stay united with Canada.

    The 2010 Winter Olympics was hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, started from Fed. 12, 2010 and ended at Fed. 28, 2010. This was the second time Canada hosts the Winter Olympics since 1988. And Canada has gained the first place in the metal table with 14 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze, it told the world that our people are strong.
