    This invention would prove to be important to multiple generations since it was first developed by Phillips and Sony in 1982. Short for compact discs, CDs were a new form of media that could hold much more storage than anything else at the time.

    Credited as the first successful mass-market desktop computer with a graphical user interface. At the time, most people found computers to be too complicated and expensive. The Macintosh solved these problems with the GUI or graphical user interface which was intuitive and easy to understand.

    In the mid 80s, the gaming industry was dead. There were way too many companies producing sub-par systems with even worse games. Nintendo however, had different plans. In 1983, they had released the Famicom system in Japan to great success. It was a risky move to release it in the North American market at the time, but consumers soon realized this one was different. This system is widely recognized for essentially saving the video game industry.

    Coming in as the third best selling video game console of all time, this product needs no introduction. It was iconic for being durable both physically and internally with its battery life. This product proved that handheld video games could be just as successful as the NES had proven to be just four years earlier. It spawned numerous successors over the years like the GameBoy Advance and GameBoy Color.
