The United States broke diplomatic relations with Iran in 1980 after a group of revolutionary Iranian students, angered that the deposed Shah has been allowed to enter the United States, seized the U.S. Embassy Tehran and took 52 Americans hostage. Economic Recovery Act
It lowered income tax rates and allowed for expensing of depreciable assets. The Economic Recovery Tax Actof 1981 (ERTA) also included several incentives for small business and incentives for saving. The ERTA also provided for automatic adjustment of tax brackets, and indexing for inflation because inflation increased nominal income and pushed taxpayers into higher and higher tax brackets. -
