The Space Shuttle Challenger was a NASA orbiter that carried seven people and was launched into space. Unfortunately, 73 seconds into the flight, the Challenger exploded, killing all of the passengers aboard. -
End of the Cold War
During the presidency of Ronald Reagan, the Berlin Wall had been an issue inside the nation of Germany. The Soviet Union had taken control of East Germany and converted it to communism while the United States and its allies took control of western Germany. Reagan had requested that Mikhail Gorbachev, president of the Soviet Union, tear down the Berlin Wall. The wall was torn down which concluded the Cold War. -

Gulf War
The Gulf War, or Operation Desert Storm, was in a major conflict with Iraq after they invaded Kuwait, a major supplier of oil. Led by Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi army took over Kuwait. President George H.W. Bush announced the operation and eventually, the United States liberated Kuwait. -
Oklahoma City Bombing
In Oklahoma City, there was a domestic terrorist attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The attack was a truck bombing and killed 168 people with over 680 people injured. Until the attack on September 11, 2001, this was the largest terrorist attack on the United States. -
Columbine High School
In 1999, two twelfth graders, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold brought a TEC-9 pistol and a pump-action shotgun and opened fire on Columbine High school where 24 were injured and 15 died. -
9/11
On September 11, the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda had a coordinated attack on the world trade centers in New York, the United States Pentagon, and another plane crashed southeast of Pittsburgh. This was the deadliest terrorist attack in American history with 2,000+ deaths.
