9/11 was a portion of a four-part suicide terrorist attack by the Islamic extremist network al-Qaeda against the United States. Two thousand seven hundred fifty people were killed in New York, where one of the planes crashed into the World Trade Center, causing the buildings to collapse, 184 deaths at the pentagon, and 40 deaths in Pennsylvania, where another one of the planes crashed after the passengers tried to re-take the plane.
