This book was written by John Updike, it was the second book in the series. It is a gloomy book throughout, a sad book, which was what many of the books were like if they weren't a futuristic book. Set the bar for the literature in the 1970s, others started to write in a similar style. -

Court decision in favor of Roe saying that a woman has a right ot abortion within the first 3 months of pregnancy. This is still a well known and important case, and still a big subject today. -

Nixon Resigns
Richard Nixon resigned as president due to Wategate scandal. This is the most popular wrong doing by a president ever. He was also known for getting the ball rolling on ending the war. -

The war finally comes to an end after Nixon starts the ending with Vietnamization. -

The first Star Wars movie was released. It is the 3rd highest grossing film series ever. Set the tone for movies to come. Really changed the film industry into something good. It was very futuristic, which seemed to be a common theme among books and movies -
Elvis Dies
Elvis dies in 1977, The Beatles also break up in 1970, this was a loss for two of the most influential rock bands of the 70s. After these two tragedies rock split up into multiple genres. -
Bridge to Terabithia
Book was written by Katherine Paterson. Really similar to many of the books in the 70s, where it is futuristic and fantasy based. -
Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali retires after a record of 56-3, then returns in 1980 and loses 2 fights then retires again. He held the title from 1974-1978. Most well know boxer to this day. -
Another oil Crisis
There is another oil crisis between us and Iran. This leads to yet another inflation. They got mad at us for us giving money to another country they were battling in the Yon Kippur war.
