1970's Technology Timeline

  • 1970 - Pascal.

    Pascal programming language introduced. Invented by Niklaus Wirth. Offered an alternative to BASIC. Helped programers think clearly about algorithms used.
  • 1971 - Intel 4004

    Intel 4004 chip introduced. Spawned a CPU family. Low production cost with fast operational speed. First CPU mounted on single chip.
  • 1972 - C Language

    C programming language introduced. Invented by Dennis Ritchie. Offers faster way to write programs.
  • 1977 - Apple II

    Introduced by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Able to be mass-produced. Allowed graphics in color.
  • 1978 - TMC0281 Human Speech Chip

    Employed for use in the Speak and Spell by Texas Instruments. Paved way for future technological voice interaction. Centered on Linear Predictive Coding (LPC).
