  • The Vietnam War Begins

    The widely unpopular war begins as the United States tries to stop the spread of communism. The Vietnamese were difficult to fight because of their gorilla warfare tactics. This war was hard for america to fight because it wasn't even popular at home.
  • "In God We Trust"

    The slogan, "In God We Trust" becomes the national motto for the United States of America. It can now be seen everywhere today.

    A school was desegregated in 1957 marking a huge turn for civil rights. These nine brave students were escorted to the school after Dwight D. Eisenhower sent federal troops to lead them in.

    John of Kennedy becomes the 35th president of the United States with Lyndon B Johnson as his Vice.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Tensions reach a peak between the Soviet Union and the United States as the USSR moved missiles extremely close to American soil. This would be considered the height of the Cold War.

    After JFK's assassination Lyndon B. Johnson becomes president.

    JFK was killed in Dallas Texas by Lee Harvey Oswald.

    Roe v Wade passes legalizing abortion in the United States. This was a big when for progressives but a tough loss for many religious people across the states.

    After Nixon's resignation Ford becomes the 38th president.

    The Vietnam War ends after years of fighting. The United States was forced to backout after the public's morale became so low 45,000 american lives were lost in the war.
