The goal of this act was to ensure that all Americans could exercise their right to vote. Congress approved the first civil rights bill since reconstruction with additional protection of voting rights, affecting the economy as it was another step in the Civil Rights Movement. -

Civil Rights Act of 1968
This act expanded on previous acts and also prohibited discrimination concerning the sale, rental, and financing of all housing based on race, religion, national origin, and (since 1974) sex. -
Immigration of 1965
This Act abolished the earlier quota system based on national origin and established a new policy of immigration based on reuniting immigrant families and attracting skilled laborers to the US.
