    Elected in 1953, he presided over most of the 50's. He was a well loved and beloved president, and spent some of his presidency for civil rights, but not his all. Passed the harder presidential problems on to Kennady as he left office in 1961.

    Rosa Parks sparks montegomery bus boycott by refusing to give up her seat to a white man. Leading the boycott is Martin Luther King Jr. who becomes the unofficial face to the civil rights movement. The bus boycott was eventually succesful.

    Nine colored students volunteered to be integrated to a white school. The governer at first sent troops to block them from getting to school while letting mobs nip at their heels. Eisenhower got wind and sent troops to let them into school. recieved federal protection until deemed safe. Only one was ever expelled and that was for poaring chili on a boys head for calling her names.

Videos/ pictures of the violence was put into news around the world disgusting everyone, and caused the pressuring the president to do something about it. He eventually brought an end to it.
    On Aug. 28 (at Washington DC) MLKJ gives his famous "I have a dream speech."
    On September 15th, four girls wekilled when attending sunday school and a bomb blew up.

Honestly out of all the presidents, I identify myself with him the most, beause he's a good guy who tried to do the right. He did a lot of things for civil rights, building up the nation with his "great societ" legislation and what not. Imake giant blunders. unfortunatly for him, his was bigger and its name was Vietnam Continued...

    CORE and SNCC organize gigantic movement to get blacks to vote.Its called Freedom summer, where massve amounts of blacks went to the polls.
    Newly passed Civil rights act of 1964 abolishes discrimination based on color gender religion or national origin.
    Then the murder of 3 freedom summer workers in mississippi happened, huge FBI investigation undertook to find out that city officials had handed the three over to be killed by the KKK.

    Basically a break in to rig the democratic national convention was dicovered and Nixon tried to cover it up when he found out. In the process he illegally obsructed justice, used the FBI and lied to the face of the public. He was caught, the other presidents weren't, so he resigned before he could be impeached.
    He also passed anti crime laws and envirenmental laws and programs.
    He oversaw putting a man on the moon.

    Good ole Jerry. I like this guy, I lied before about identifing with Johnson, because this guy was a really good guy. No scandals, no lies, probably because he was an Eagle Scout and doglover. One of the most controversial things he did as President was padon Nixon. Alot of peeople didn't like that. The second one was aiding Israel with 2 billion dollars of aid against an Egyptian offensive. He also saw the end to the Vietnam War, though it was unwilling as he wanted to aid the South Vietnamese.
