    FDR was the 32nd President of the United States. He served for four terms and began his fourth term on January 20, 1945. He helped the unemployed and received the Raven Award.

    A turning point in World War II where allied forces invaded the beaches of Normandy which resulted in a victory. This completed Operation Overlord.

    This battle was a major battle in the Pacific War where American troops stormed Okinawa, Japan. It was the last major battle of WWII and the allies took the victory.

    President Truman

    Harry S. Truman was the 33rd President of the United States. He made the decision to drop the atomic bomb and created the Truman Doctrine.
  • Atomic bomb dropped

    President Truman gave the United States military permission to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Three days later they dropped one on Nagasaki which led to the Japanese surrender and end of the war.
  • Philipines Independence

    The United States represented the Island of the Philipines as an independent country from America.
  • Truman Doctrine

    This doctrine was created by President Truman as support for countries under communist attack. The United States gave 400 million dollars to Turkey and Greece to strengthen it's military and economy.
  • Marshall Plan

    This plan gave congress the approval to give 12 billion dollars, over the next four years, to help European countries recover from the war.
  • NATO

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created as an alliance against the Soviet Union. There are 30 countries in the organization and they all provide each other security.

    The beginning of the trans-continental television started with the first broadcast of President Truman's speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco.
