As the demand went up the cost in the United States did too. They paid 11 cents for a pack of gum which is about 2.25 now. -

Bombing of Hiroshima
The United States decided to bomb Hiroshima and shortly after Nagasaki becuase of the japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This was a key part of World War 2 and lead to the surrender of Japan. -
Bombing of Nagasaki
The United States bombed Nagasaki shortly after bombing Hiroshima. It was the first use of an atom bomb. Many civilians were killed in the bombing. It lead to the surrender of Japan. -
