Dr. Kolff was able to make one of these machines using sausage skins, orange juice cans a washing machine and other various items during a time of having scarce resources.

    Today there is a microwave in more than 90 percent of American homes since its invention in 1946 by Percy Spencer. Percy conceived the idea of the microwave when a bar of chocolate melted in his pocket when walking by a military grade magnetron he was testing.
