Election of 1932
Franklin D. Roosevelt wins the 1932 election and begins his first of four terms. During his first term, he brought reform and recovery to business and agriculture, and reduced unemployment. -
New Deal
In order to bring peace to Americans during the depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt brought the New Deal. It instituted financial reforms and public work projects for Americans. -
Social Security Act
This act was signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt as part of his New Deal. It provided benefits for the retired, unemployed, disabled, and financially dependent mothers with children. -
WW2
World War II grew out of issues left unresolved in WWI. This includes Germany violating the Treaty of Versailles. When Hitler invaded Poland, France and Britain declared war. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
The Japanese Imperial Army surprise attacked a U.S. naval base, Pearl Harbor. More than 2,400 Americans died and over 1,000 were wounded. This attack worsened U.S. relations with Japan and prompted America's entrance into WWII.
