On this date the 18th amendment was put into effect. It was prohibition on making and selling alcohol. Since the law has passed people did mot listen and still made and sold alcohol. -
Harding wins presidency
Harding won the first election for the 1920s. He won 60% of the popular vote and 75% of electoral vote. He ran against James Cox and Eugene Debs. -
Failure of ratification of the treaty or verailles
A plan between the allied powers and Germany to keep certain agreements. It gave Germany very harsh repertations they had to payback because of the war. The US did not like they treaty because fhey though in the long run it would just bring on more fighting so they did not sign it. -
Immigration quota established
The government creates the first restrictions on immigration. Congress made a quota on the immigrants coming from western and eastern Europe. Immigrants coming from here were looked at as the undesirable immigrants. -
First affordable car
The first car to be invented was the model T my Henry Ford. It was the first cat that normal people would be financially able to perchase. Each car costed $335. -
Harding dies
President Harding passed away in his hotel room due to a heart attack. He was in San Francisco for a speaking tour. Calivin Collidge became the new president. -
The Klu Klux Klam
The KKK is a hatred group that believes the US should still be discriminating blacks. They also hated other grounds such as Catholics. They used violence to persuade politics and make things in thenUSmhow they wanted it. -
Lindburgh flight
Charles Lindburgh flew from New York to Paris. He was the first person to ever successfully fly across the Atlantic Ocean alone. After his 33 hour flight he became a national hero. -
The start to The Great Depression
The great depression was a time when the US economy was very bad. The stock market crashed and along with it many companies became very poor. The quality of life for many Americans went down as many of them could not afford a lot. -
