This involved the administration of United States president Warren G. Harding. Albert Fall leased federal oil to Mammoth Oil company and gave them exclusive rights to Teapot Dome. This oil was supposed to be for the Navy. -
Yankee stadium opens
Yankee stadium was located in the Bronx. It was home of the New York Yankees, one of the city's Major League Baseball franchises. It was home of Babe Ruth, who was one of the greatest to ever play the game. -
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
New York city holds its first Thanksgiving parade. It featured live animals from the zoo then eventually Felix the cat was was the parade's first ever giant balloon. -
Pennsylvania Coal Strike
150,000 coal miners go on strike. The Anthrastrike was because workers saught hire wages due to the difficulty of the work. Owners called for increased efficiency and production. -
Deadly Tornado
As a tornado hit Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana, 689 people were killed making it the worst tornado in history, and devastating the area. -
First successful liquid fuel rocket
Robert Goddard successfully launched the first liquid fueled rocket. His rocket was about ten feet tall and built out of pipes and the fuel that he used was a combination of liquid oxygen and gasoline. During the test the rocket traveled to a height of 41 feet and landed about 184 feet from the launch site. -
Work begins on Mt. Rushmore
Work begins on Mt. Rushmore. Sculpture of 4 U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Work began on October 4th. -
Ford Model A
Henry Ford revealed the companies newest vehicle. Ford announced that the production of the model T has ended and the model A would offer a more innovative look. This car would range in price from 500- 1200 dollars. -
Museum of Modern Art opens
It is created in New York City in November. It was originally located in the Heckscher Building on fifth avenue and only had six rooms. In 1932, the Museum is moved to a townhouse on 53rd street.
