The 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution banned the manufacture, transportation, and sale of intoxicating liquors. This period in American history would be known as Prohibition. -

Prohibition into the Great Depression
During this time, people began to find ways of hiding and illegally selling alcohol. This would continue through the years until the start of another US crisis, when economics would start to change for the worst. -
Start of the Great Depression
After investors had started to sell their stocks in fear of the stock market crashing, ultimately banks would collapse along with the stock market, and people were left jobless. This day would later be known as Black Thursday, the start of the worst economic depression in history. -
Start of the Dust Bowl
Due to the method of farming used at the time as well as extreme drought and strong winds, farmers started to experience extreme dust storms in the midwest that damaged not only farmers' crops, but their houses and, if they breathed in the dirt, their lungs. -
End of Prohibition
By 1933, the world was struggling from the collapse of the stock market. Since people needed money, and alcohol had become the least of people's issues, the 21st amendment was passed and the prohibition came to an end. -
Black Sunday
This is considered to be the worst dust bowl or "black blizzard" to ever happen, not only during this time but in history, causing extensive damage. -
End of the Great Depression & Dust Bowl
Towards the end of the 1930s, both the Great Depression and Dust Bowl would come to a close in the fall of 1939. After years of horrible dust storms, farmers had found a better way to farm without having so much surface dirt, and it would finally start to rain. As for the Great Depression, as the start of WWII approached men and women had to get jobs to help fund the war, and this would ultimately mobilize the economy once more. -

The second world war was fought between the main world powers joined together as the Axis forces and Allied forces. During this time events like Pearl Harbor and the Holocaust would occur. In the end, the Axis powers would ultimately be defeated, and the war would come to an end. -
Start of 1950s-60s Civil Rights Movement
In 1954, the supreme court of America settled the long case of Brown vs Board of Education arguing that "separate but equal" schools are inherently unequal, this motion set up the civil rights movement and shows the unfairness and racism black people were and are facing. -
Rosa Park is Arrested
On December 1st, 1955, Rosa park was on a bus when a white man told her to get up and move because that was his seat. Rosa Parks refused and was arrested. This event was major during the Civil Rights movement. -
Vietnam War
The main reason the US joined the Vietnam War was to stop the spread of communism. This war was very long and costly for Vietnam and its ally parties. -
Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream" Speech
Martin Luther King Jr was an icon and the main leader during the Civil Rights movement. He gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. This speech would change the world and is not only remembered to this day but very well changed how people perceived the Civil Rights movement as a whole. -
Vietnam War Turning Point
In 1968, the US launched the Tet Offensive against Vietnam. This tactic would ultimately change the outcome of the war. -
Martin Luther King Jr is Assasinated
In Memphis Tennessee, at 6:05 pm, outside his second floor hotel room, on the balcony, Martin Luther King Jr would be shot by James Earl Ray. He would die later that same day and he death would shake people view of the Civil Rights movement. -
End of the Civil Rights Movement
On April 4th,1968, President Johnson signed the Fair Housing Act, providing equal housing opportunities regardless of race, religion or national origin. His signature of the document not only ended segregation, but ended the Civil Rights movement, even though racism and racist comments would continue to this day. -
End of the Vietnam War
After many years of long and tedious fighting, the US would ultimately come out victorious in the end. By doing this they helped stop the spread of communism.
