The war brings starvation
The first world war hit Russia pretty hard, them 3/4 of their troops. But whilst this was happening, the Tsar had decided to send more and more people into the raging war, only for them to die of starvation as they weren't fed properly, hypothermia, because they were sent without shoes and proper jackets and from the position as they had no guns or training. But back in Russia, no farmers were there to make food, no trains to send it around the country. Russia's peasants were starving. -
The chaos in the Goverment
By February 1917, the parliament was in chaos. This was because of many poor decisions made by the Tsar, especially sending himself out into the war. Nicholas was a good leader for his family and the government but many doubted his role in the army, him having little to no experience. Even worse, he had left his wife in control and she had no clue, leaving a peasant with 'magical' powers (Rasputin) lead the government, his friends as well. Her being German didn't help her much anyways. -
Steel workers go on strike
On the 7th of March, one of the first signs of a rebellion took place. The steelworkers were going on strike, leaving their jobs and heading for the streets to protest. Steel workers are required, in their time, to make or help safer iron and steel objects, as well as any other metal they would use. It would be quite dangerous and hard to be a steel worker at the time, they used machines and worked in bad weather. If Russia had no steel workers, they wouldn't expand or being able to use steel. -
International Women's day 1917
International women's day was a day to celebrate women, for all the work they do and to shine a light of appreciation on them. But in 1917 Russia, it was a day for demonstrations, strikes and bread riots. The war made many very angry, more so starving. Bread was sold from 4 - 5 hour queue, many didn't have the time. But on this day, everyone marched down the street in demand for food and respect from their queen. They wouldn't take no for an answer as it was the royals who let them like this. -
Tsarnia calls on the army to stop protesters
For 3 days now, strikes had been happening, nothing was getting done in the country. People were always angry and following IWD it didn't get much better. People were screaming on the streets, wanting food, respect and an invitation into the royal houses. Everyone were sick of the war but the Tsarnia wanted none of it so she decided to call the army on them. 300+ soldiers entered the streets, armed and ready to fire onto their own, just as was done on February 26th when the Tsar killed dozens. -
