  • WW1 Starts

    When Britain declared war on Germany, Canada was force into war as well because we were apart of the British Empire. Even though we had to go to war Canada was allowed to choose our level of involvement. To help persuade men to go into the war letters were sent to school for the children to read and hopefully convince the eligible men in their family. Approximately 20-30% of Canada’s population of men at the time went to war. This is a political change
  • The Battle of Vimy Ridge

    The Battle of of Vimy Ridge was one of the greatest battles in history and the most celebrated military victory. We won this battle and through this we also showed our independence from Britain. During this battle over 20,000 German soldiers died and the rest were overtaken by our Canadian soldiers. This was a very big step for Canadians. This is Political change
  • The Spanish Flu

    During the Spanish flu epidemic over 50,000 people died in Canada alone. This was terrible because people had already lost loved ones in war and then this happened. Many children were left as orphans and had no place to go. The Spanish flu was thought to have been a mutation off the original virus and it was spread by wartime. This virus was highly contagious. This was a social change
  • WW1 Ended

    When WW1 ended this was a happy time for a lot of people. Finally after all this time they get to reunite with their husbands, brothers and sons. Life would finally go back to “normal” for all of these family’s. This is political change
  • Fred Loft forms the League of the Indians

    The League of the Indians advocates for better living conditions for themselves. They also fight for the protection of their rights and practices. Although this caused the government to like them less, they continued to stay strong and fight for what they believe in. This is a social change
  • Winnipeg General Strike

    The Winnipeg general strike was the largest strike in Canadian history. These people were trying to accomplish better working conditions and better pay, because of the size of the strike these people were very successful and accomplished their goals. This is social change
  • The Prohibition of Alcohol

    The government of Canada at the time had banned alcohol. Although they tried so many people drink alcohol anyway and slowly they redacted the prohibition in each province until it was no longer active in Canada. Even within the government there was no support left. Therefore this failed miserably and because of this crime continued to thrive. This is economical change
  • Residential Schools become Mandatory

    The residential schools were awful places were indigenous kids were taken from their home to these schools. These children were stripped of their culture and religion. This is very sad that we put all these innocent children these awful things, it was a horrific event. Every child between age of seven and eighteen were forced to attend as well as children that were métis or Inuit were forced to attend. This is social change
  • Women have the Right to Vote

    Finally after all this time women have the right to vote! Women didn’t have the same rights of men for thousands of years but finally we got a step closer to more equal rights. This is a economical change
  • The Discovery of a Treatment for Diabetes

    Throughout time insulin is one of the greatest discoveries made in the whole world. Insulin has saved countless lives and made less suffering for those who have diabetes. For those who were diagnosed with diabetes they have an average lifespan of 1 to 1.5 years left to live while suffering. This was a huge accomplishment for Canada because it was found at a University in Toronto. This is social change
  • Canada show Independence from Britain

    For Canada to show that it is more independent from Britain we had our own seat in the league of Nations. Britain also announced that Canada was now it’s own country and we had power of are own foreign affairs. Canada finally I could make it sound decisions more or less rather than having to follow what Britain said. This is political change
  • The Stock Market Crashes

    12.8 million stocks were sold leaving everyone in panic. Accounts were wiped and no had any time to intervene. This is what the wheat glut caused. That day people lost thousands of dollars, causing what turned into the Great Depression. This is a political change
