    This was Canada's first major battle.The Canadians rushed to create a new defensive line to protect themselves from Germany's release of chlorine gas and succeed. When the Germans released a second wave of gas the Canadians used urine soaked cloths to protect themselves,which only lasted for a limited time.The Canadians suffered more than 6000 casualties.(-1)

Despite the many people that were upset about a woman in parliament, there were still many people that believed in her.She believed in social justice for women's rights, prison reform,used her place in parliament to voice her opinion and inspired many women to do the same.(2)

    After the war ended,British forces remained in Turkey and were eventually attacked by the Turks.They were outnumbered and unable to handle the situation alone.The British prime minister called on Canada to assist them but this time Canada did not go straight to them, Prime Minister King said that the parliament was to decide whether or not Canada would fight with Britain.The crisis ended before the decision was made.(2)
