    In 1919 the Chicago White sox made the World Series but then decided to purposely lose for money.the scheme to throw the game for money may have first materialized a few weeks before that year's World Series, when White Sox first baseman C. Arnold “Chick” Gandil and a gambler named Joseph Sullivan met to discuss the possibility of Sox players deliberately tanking in the championship. This is important to my topic because this is one of if not the most famous scandal in all of sports history.

    The NFL a major U.S. professional gridiron football organization, founded in 1920 in Canton, Ohio, as the American Professional Football Association.The league began play in 1920 and comprised of five teams from Ohio, four teams from Illinois, two from Indiana, two from New York, and the Detroit Heralds from Michigan. only two remain
    This is important to my topic because this is the most popular sports league in the United states and this shows some of the wonderful traditions behind the NFL.

    On August 3, 1949, after a damaging three-year battle to win both players and fans, the rival Basketball Association of America (BAA) and National Basketball League (NBL) merge to form the National Basketball Association (NBA). This is the beginning of a league that is still thriving to this day.
    This is important to my topic because this is the start of a whole new league at this point and is something that I love and still watch today.

    Wilt Chamberlain scores 100 points
    On March 2nd, 1962 Wilt Chamberlain set the all time record for most points scored in a single game as he scored 100 points as his team ( philadelphia warriors) won 169-147 against the new york knicks . This record has stood for over 4 decades! It is believed that no one will break this record for ages to come.
    This is important to my topic because this is one of the records that brought attention to the sport and one that hasn't been broken for over 4 decades.
