The assassination of Franz Ferdinand

Cause - Archduke of Austria-Hungary Franz Ferdinand believed the Serbs were “pigs”, “thieves”, “scoundrels” and “murderers.” The Young Bosnians began to plot against him upon hearing about his visit to Bosnia, and received help from The Black Hand.
Consequence - Austria-Hungary received help from their ally Germany, which resulted in the Germans attacking France through neutral Belgium, triggering WW1. -
Battle of Ypres

Cause- The German’s went through Belgium in order to attack France.
Consequence- Britain and the allied forces fought against Germany and left Ypres in ruins with more than 2,000 dead

Victory at Vimy Ridge
Theme: Battle
The Germans had taken over Vimy Ridge, resulting in an advantage in combat. The French couldn’t take back the ridge, as there was already over 100,000 casualties, so the Canadians were ordered to take it back. Within 3 days the Canadians reigned victorious. -
Influenza pandemic

After the war had been won , the surviving soldiers returned back home, and what they had originally believed to be the common cold, had turned out to be far more deadly, as a fifth of the world's population was infected. This scourge ravaged the earth for two years, and it's estimated that over 675,000 Americans alone died from the disease.
This pandemic went on from 1918 to 1919
