    The Anti Saloon League was founded in Ohio in 1893. In 1895 it gained so much traction that it became a national organization. Most of their support came from churches and woman. They lobbied in all government legislation branches to outlaw the manufacture and sale of intoxicating beverages. After the 18th amendment they went to enforce the amendment.
  • Ratification of the 18th amendment

    The 18th amendment was ratified by the states on January,16,1919. It prohibited the "manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors."
  • The end of the 18th Amendment.

    After many years of prohibition, the people were fed up with the 18th amendment. And on December 5th 1933 the 21st Amendment was created. It stated that "The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed. The transportation or importation into any State, Territory, or Possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited."
