Many of them were from Kagoshima. I think it is because the temperature and climates of Kagoshima is similar to that of Taiwan -

Interesting comments
They said they used 12 types of silkworms during 1898 span, but to avoid messy table and confusion, they only recorded 7 of them and didn't record the 5 other kinds. Did not even list what types of silk worm they used. -

New testing
In 1898, they tested on storing the cocoons of silkworms which they never mentioned in 1897.
They used 2 different ways and compared the result.
They also mentioned that they want to test it again next year, 1899.
