The Dutch Arrival
The Dutch Commissioned the Englishman Henry Hudson in hopes of finding a Northwest Passage through North America. Instead they ended up discovering the Hudson River and laying claim to modern day New York. -
New Amsterdam
The Dutch settlers purchased slaves. Those slaves were tasked with building New Amsterdam which is known today as New York City. -
The Great Migration 1630-1640
About 20,000 English Puritans flocked to New England during this period to escape persecution and begin a new life. -
King Phillips War
King Phillips War lasted from 1675-1676. The war was a result of growing tensions between Natives and English settlers. The results would decrease the Native population to only 10%. -
