    General Custer's army lost to the Sioux Indians, which led to the US government aggressively crushing the Indian rebellions to bring peace in the West.

    The strike's failure led people to realize they need to unionize, that started the concept of unions, which has led to the unions today.
  • Immigration Act

    The Immigration Act was passed by congress which denied admission to people who were not able to support themselves and those, such as paupers, people with mental illnesses, or convicted criminals, who might otherwise threaten the security of the nation.
  • The Chicago Haymarket Affair

    Immigrants were accused of targeting and killing police officers in a bomb blast. This caused Americans to have greater fear of immigrants, and led to laws being passed to slow down the influx of immigrants.
  • The Dawes Act of 1877

    The act authorized the federal government to break up tribal lands by sectioning them into individual plots. It also was to assimilate Native American Indians into mainstream US culture by destroying their culture and traditions.
