Ulysses S. Grant
Ulysses S. Grant was president during the Panic of 1873. He establish the program that formed Yellowstone National Park. Grant also had the Treaty of Washington signed during his terms. -
Rutherford B. Hayes
Hayes wanted to reform the system of civil service appointments. During his presidency, the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 occured. He also confronted two currency debates. One formed the Bland-Allison Act in 1878. -
Chester A. Arthur
In 1882, Arthur had taxes abolished except on alchol. During his presidency, the Chinese Exclusion Act was signed making Chinese immigrants denied from the United States. He also had the the Navy reformed. -
Grover Cleveland
Cleveland vetoed the Texas Seed Bill in 1887. He also tried to reduce the amount of silver coined by the U.S. In 1887, the Interstate Commerce Commision was signed to regulate railroads. -
Benjamin Harrison
The Sherman Antitrust Act prohibited certain bussiness activities and was created in 1890. During his presidency, the Indians were doing a movement called the Ghost Dance. He was the president to put electricity in the White House. -
Theodore Roosevelt
Roosevelt helped the wellbeing of the people by having laws like the Meat Inspection Act of 1906. He also passed the Pure Food and Drug Act that made better food for the people. During his presidency, the United Mine Workers went on strike. They wanted higher pay and shorter workdays. -
William Howard Taft
The Sixteenth Amendment was created that created income tax. Dollar Diplomacy became popular as it made economic power by loans to foreign countries. An Open Door Policy became more popular after the success in China. -
Woodrow Wilson
Wilson passed the Federal Reserve Act that worked with the central banking of America. The Tariffs where lowered by the Underwood Tariff in 1913. Federal Farm Loan Act provided long-term mortgages to farmers.
