  • Charles sumner was attacked by preston

    Border ruffians had ransacked Lawrence Kansas which was know to be a free state Preston Brooks attacked Charles Sumner with a can right after Sumner had given a speech which he was attacked the pro-slavery forces for the violence occuring in Kansas
  • Pottamatomie Massacre

    In reaction to the sacking of Lawrence (Kansas) by pro-slavery forces, John Brown and a band of abolitionist settlers (some of them members of the Pottawatomie Rifles) killed seven settlers north of Pottawatomie Creek in Franklin County, Kansas. This was one of the many episodes in Kansas preceding the American Civil War.

  • John Brown Raided Harper's Ferry

    John Brown radical abolitionist who had been involved in anti- slavery violence in kansas, on october 16. He led a group of seventeen including 5 black members to go raid the arsenal located in harpers ferry. His goal was to start a slave up rising. Brown and his men were surrounded and eventually killed or captured by troops which was led by colonel Robert E. Lee. This was arson which led to the open war fair
