1790 Naturalization Act
This act allowed a person to apply for citizenship only if they were a free white male, had generally good behavior, and have lived in the United States for a minimum of 2 years. This was also allowed to children under 21 regardless of birthplace. If any applicant has never lived in the United States, their application will be thrown out. -
1882 Chinese Exclusion Act
This act was put in place to prevent Chinese people from migrating into the United States. Chinese workers posed as a threat to order in certain localities. -
1924 Immigration Act
This act was put in place to limit immigration into the United States. They did this by allowing only mothers, children, and bona-fide students to migrate to the United States in unlimited amounts. All other immigrants who didn't meet these qualifications were allowed into the U.S. but only in limited numbers anually. -
2005 Real ID Act
Made as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attack. This act expanded the criteria for activities considered to be an act of terrorism. This made people falsely accuse others of terrorism.
