Seven Year's War
It was the most important war between France and Britain and their Indian allies. The war started with frontier clashes in America when the British and the French were competing for Indian lands. The Ohio River valley was the main target because of how important it was considered since it was known as gaining the control of the entire continent because of the rivers. -
End of the Seven Year's War
In 1754 Washington and the British Army tried to attack the french many times but it didn't go as planned and in the end he ended up losing lots of men and the French and Indians didn't lose as many in the battles. George Washington was force to surrender many times but later on him and the other generals started gaining victories by taking over french forts and separating the French army, following with the french surrendering. -
Treaty of Paris
Because of the french losing the seven year war, the British gained control over the French territories east of the Mississippi river. (Canada, present day Alabama and Mississippi, and sugar growing islands in the West Indies) Great Britain became the greatest empire in the world. Sugar Act
After the seven year war Britain had a lack of money and as a result the King started imposing taxes on the colonists. The first tax was the sugar act which mean that Britain was forcing the colonies to get sugar from Britain and to pay duties on them. -
Stamp Act
After the Sugar act the King then introduced the stamp act which was extremely controversial. There would be tax in every stamped paper or documentation like pamphlets, deck of cards, marriage contracts, and more. This made the colonists very mad specially since they didn't have any representation in the parliament that was choosing the taxes for the colonies. Later on the Sugar act and the Tea act were repealed. -
Townshend Acts
Parliament then passed the Townshend act which taxed glass, lead, tea, and paper. The Americans then proceeded to boycott the British products making the British with no improvement in the economy. The King had to repealed the tax again except the tea act because the king wanted to keep as a symbol of the power over the colonies. -
The Boston Massacre
One day two dozen Boston rowdies teens, Irishmen, and sailors began throwing snow to a young soldier guarding the Customs House. The snow then turned to shells and rocks and someone rang the fire bell. Then a group of soldiers arrived to help their partner and when a colonist knocked a soldier down the soldier shot him, the other soldier also started shooting making a big scene. five men died. eight were injured, and nine British soldiers were arrested -
Boston Tea Party
On December 16, 1773 a group of patriots called the son's of liberty dresses as Mohawk Indians, went to the Boston harbor and boarded a ship filled with tea. They dumped 342 chests filled with forty-six tons of tea into the ice water. The Boston Tea Party represented a turning point in the relations with the crown of Britain. -
The First President of America
On March 4, 1789, the senate certified George Washington as the president with 69 electoral College votes and the nations unanimous votes. Making John Adams vice president since he came second in the elections. Many people especially John Adams thought that he was an unfit candidate since he didn't attend any college. Calling him " too illiterate unlearned [and] unread." But other view as a the best choice because of the bravery he showed during the revolution. -
Washington's proclamation of neutrality
Before dropping the presidency he urged that the United States should remain neutral, meaning that the country wont interline in wars with other countries no matter what. This advice wasn't taken to light since America then follows to get involved with others countries in future events.
