    The Great Awakening

    The sentiment of the Great Awakening is that everyone is equal in the eyes of God. some ministers started a spiritual renewal. They asked people to look into themselves for solutions, treat your slaves well and Christianize them.
  • Stono Rebellion

    Slaves broke into a store and took ammunition and weapons and killed the storekeeper. They made their way south, killing whites and acquiring blacks into their army along the way. Eventually they were dispersed and most were executed.
  • Writs of Assistance

    English officials are allowed to search any home without warrant
  • The Revenue Act

    The first tax imposed on the colonies. Its purpose was to raise revenue through the colonial customs service and to give customs agents more power and latitude with respect to executing seizures and enforcing customs law.
  • Currency Act

    Made it so the colonies couldn't make or issue local currency.
  • Quartering Act

    Required colonists to provide housing for troops in public buildings, food and drinks.
  • Stamp Act

    imposed a direct tax on the colonies that required most printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London.
  • Declaratory Act

    It stated that the British had the same taxing authority in America as they do in Great Britain.
  • Townshend Revenue Act

    It taxed most anything that was imported.
  • Boston Massacre

    People were taunting the British soldiers and that caused them to open fire on the civilians. killing 5 and injuring more.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    Acts made by the British in response to what the Colonies have done. They closed Boston’s port after the Boston Tea Party to all trade until they repaid the cost of the tea. Council is appointed by king from now on, no town meetings without governor’s approval, and governor appoints judges and sheriffs. Governors could send someone on trial to England or another colony to be tried.
  • Tea Act

    British East India Company almost went bankrupt so to bail them out, Britain let them ship to the colonies directly.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A bunch of rebels dressed as Indians, escorted customs officers off the boat, and dumped all the tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • First Continental Congress

    Wanted to achieve unity and get rid of the Intolerable Acts. Wrote a Declaration of Rights
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere sounded the alarm, and militiamen began mobilizing to intercept the British.
  • Second Continental Congress

    They met after the Battle of Lexington and Concord. One of the reasons they met was to try and stop war with Britain with the Olive Branch Petition but it was not received well by King George
  • Battle at Trenton

    George Washington's first win against the British.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    This battle convinced France to start helping us fight Britain.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Was an agreement among the 13 original states of the United States of America that served as its first constitution.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris by King George III and representatives of the United States of America. It ended the American Revolutionary War. The treaty set the boundaries between the British Empire and the U.S.

    A rebellion that was comprised of farmers who opposed state economic policies causing poverty and property foreclosures.
  • Northwest Ordinance

    Several ordinances enacted by Congress for the purpose of establishing orderly and equitable procedures for the settlement and political incorporation of the Northwest Territory

    Created the federal court system
