Stono Rebellion Begins
The Stono Rebellion began September 9, 1739 as a slave rebellion in South Carolina. The slaves stole firearms and began killing white people. -
Iron Act Passed
Great Britain passed the Iron Act in 1750 to encourage North America to produce more raw iron and to limit the products of iron in the colonies. -
Currency Act Passed
Great Britain passed the Currency Act in 1751 when there was a paper money shortage. This act prohibited any new bills from being issued. -

This war began over the disagreement about the Upper Ohio River Valley being British or French. This war lasted 9 years and a lot of new territory was gained for the British. It ended in 1763 with The Treaty of Paris that defined the territories. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was in an attempt to stop the smuggling of sugar and molasses. They reduced the previous tax placed on those goods and enforced the use of duties. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was passed in 1765 to impose a tax on all paper documents. Britain passed it to help pay of their debt from the 7 Years War. It was later repealed in 1766. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occurred in 1770 when American colonists protested against the British and their taxes. -
Boston Tea Party
In December of 1773, a group of colonists dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston harbor. This was in an attempt to show their disagreement with the Tea Act of 1773, which they disliked because of taxes. -
Washington Declared head of Continental Army
Washington was declared commander in chief of the Continental Army to control the Militia in Boston. -
Declaration of Independence
Written by Thomas Jefferson, John Locke, and many others, the Declaration of Independence was approved on July 4, 1776. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was ratified and ended the Revolutionary War, declaring peace with the British. -
George Washington Elected President
After a unanimous vote from the Electoral Colleges, George Washington was elected 1st president of the US with John Adams as his Vice President. He was reelected again along with Adams in 1792. -
Bill of Rights Takes Action
Containing the first 10 amendments of the constitution, the Bill of Rights was adopted in 1791. -
John Adams Elected President
John Adams followed Washington's presidency when he was elected in 1797. Thomas Jefferson was his vice president.
