  • Slavery in North America

    There were enslaved Africans in every colony and made up about 11 percent of the total population.
  • Great Awakening

    Growing enlightenment ideals threatned the traditional religious life. The American colonies had a spirtual revival and emotion in the spirtual realm.
  • Stono Rebellion

    On September 9, 1739 a group of enslaved africans attacked a store in Stono, South Carolina. The rebels seized weapons, killed and decapited white men and fled south to get more recruits. They burned plantations and freed more enslaved africans. They later we caught by militiaman and were killed.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    This union called for the eleven colonies to join together headed by a president-by the king. They sent two delegates to a grand council and would have legislative powers.
  • Seven Years War

    This war was the most significant between France and Britain in North America. This began as a dispute over North American land. This war resulted in Great Britain gaining significant tetorrial gain disputes over frontier policy an war expenses-led to the American Revolution.
  • Boston Massacre

    This started as a street fight between Boston rowdies and soliders, but turned into a massacre among the colonists. 9 British soldiers were arrested and jailed and 2 were convicted of manslaughter.
  • The Tea Act and Boston Tea Party

    Parliment passed the Tea Act of 1773 to allow the East India Company to send tea directly to America without paying taxes. The colonists soon found out that King George lll was trying to get colonial submission through cheap tea. This made colonists very angry and on December 16,1773, Patriots dressed as Indiains boarded British ships and dumped 342 chests of Tea.
  • The Deceleration Of Independence

    On July 4,1776, 56 members of congress gathered together formally creating the United States and the Deceleration of Independence. The delegates knew that they were committing treason and likely be hanged for these actions if captured by British troops but saw the fate of our country if they didn't create this deceleration.
  • constitutional convention held in Philedelphia

    The confederation congress responded to the unrest by calling for a federal convention. The founding Fathers gathered at the independence hall to create the constitution- revising articles of confederation.
