The Archaic Age was the age that followed the Greek Dark Age. There was a reemergence of foreign cultures. This was also the time period where the Phoenician alphabet was introduced. This led to the Greeks to record everything in this alphabet. This included them also using this alphabets in their literature, poetry, and drama. -

This event was one of the Panhellenic games. The word Panhellenic means "all Greece." It was a way that all of Greece untied, and was also used for religious festivals and a competition. The most significant one was the Olympics. Its name originated from Olympia, where the games were held every 4 years. -

The Iliad and The Odyssey is the earliest surviving Greek literature. This was the oldest literature that is written in Phoenician. Historians say that Greeks also used Phoenician in their tax records and mercantile transactions. -

According to the Greek historian Herodotus there was a Greek travel to Africa around. This expedition was done over the course of 3 years. This was done much more earlier, as the next expedition around Africa would be done 2000 years later -

In 600 BCE there was a probability of civil war at the time. This was due to the aristocrats owning most of the land. This led to farmers having more and more debt towards the aristocrats. And this led to a lot of slavery due to the Greek law. To solve this the Solon to cancel debts and to eliminate debt-slavery itself. -

Persian War Begins
Began with the landing of 25,000 Persian men in Marathon. Athens soon sent someone to Sparta for help. Sparta could not immediately help due to their religious ceremonies. Both armies camped out for a while, soon Persia sent their troops to invade Athens. Athens fought back and won. -

Re-Unification of the Country
In 359 BCE Macedonian king, Philip II, re-unified the country. He started a campaign over Macedonia and the other northern areas. Many men joined him as he would give them looted wealth. He sized many gold from Greece. -
330 BCE
Alexander the Great Conquest Persepolis
After Phillip II died, his son Alexander took on the throne. At this time Greece was unified under Macedonia. However, Alexander still embarked on his father's mission to conquest Persia. He slowly took their land little by little. The Persian king tried making peace with him but failed. In 330 BCE Alexander the Great finally conquests Persepolis, the capital of Persia.
