The colony was established in Massachusetts by the Pilgrims from England. Before sailing off, the passengers of the ship, the Mayflower, had to sign the Mayflower Compact, an agreement to the colony's government. This agreement allowed the passengers to travel off to other countries. -
Pennsylvania
William Penn establishes a colony and names it Pennsylvania. He wanted there to be houses along the rivers and peace with the Indians. -
New York
The citizens of the US seize New Amsterdam from the Dutch and rename the settlement New York. Which is the city we know of today. -
