Massachusetts Bay Colony
Founded in 1628, 1000 Puritan refugees moved to Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630. -
The First Navigation Acts
Parliament intended to promote the self-sufficiency of the British Empire by restricting colonial trade to England. -
Bacon´s Rebellion
In 1679, Nathaniel Bacon created an army of colonists and indentured servants to rebel against the governor. Bacon wanted more land for tobacco production, but that meant taking Native American land. The governor said they were not allowed to take the land so out of spite the army burned Jamestown to the ground. -
King Williams War
This war was fought between England and France over who had control over the fur trade in the New World. This war is the first war in the French and Indian war to take place. -
Salem Witch Trials
In the Salem Witch Trials over 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft or being involved in witchcraft in some way. The two girls who started the witchcraft rumors were never given a punishment. In the end 20 people died in various ways.
