In 1679, Nathaniel Bacon created an army of colonists and indentured servants to rebel against the governor. Bacon wanted more land for tobacco production, but that meant taking Native American land. The governor said they were not allowed to take the land so out of spite the army burned Jamestown to the ground.

In the Salem Witch Trials over 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft or being involved in witchcraft in some way. The two girls who started the witchcraft rumors were never given a punishment. In the end 20 people died in various ways.
