Jamestown
Englishmen were sent in three ships to find land to create a settlement in the New world. They sailed down the James River. There they found land and created the first permanent English colony. -
Santa Fe Established
Santa Fe was the first permanent European Settlement, which was established in the South West of the New World. It was established by Spain, in 1610. -
Powhatan died
The death of Powhatan brought his brother, Opechancaough into power. He promised that he would drive the colonists out of their land, and back to where they came from. -
Surprise Attack
Opechancanough organized a surprise attack on the colonists, and killed over 350 of them. This started a widespread idea for both colonists and Indians to try and force each other out of their land. -
Manhattan was bought
In 1626, Peter Minuit bought Manhattan from the Munsee Indians. The Dutch were looking for land to establish New Netherlands. Colony leaders were interested in buying land, so they sent Peter to buy Manhattan. -

Great Puritan Migration
The Puritans faced many persecutions, so they began their Great Migration. During this migration, 20,000 Puritans fled and went to New England. Where they kept trying to reform the Church of England. -
Land granted to English Noblemen
The Duke of York gave the land between the Hudson and Delaware Rivers to two English Noblemen. In this land two colonies were established, East Jersey and West Jersey. -

King Philip's War
This war was one of the last huge attempts from the Indians to remove the colonists. This war ended in a huge loss of life, and damage to property for both the Colonists and the Indians. -
Bacon's Rebellion
Bacon's rebellion was an revolt led by Nathaniel Bacon and the Virginia settlers, against the rule of Governor William Burkeley. The Virginians did not like Williams policies toward the Natives, so they gathered 1,000 people. The Rebellion didn't end in the goal to drive Indians out of Virginia, but it was successful in the fact that Burkeley was recalled from his position and sent back to England. -
Glorious Revolution
The English Monarchy was overthrown, so the bishops and Parliament gave the throne to the Dutch Prince William of Holland and his English bride, Mary, the daughter of James II. This was a peaceful Revolution, because there was no bloodshed.
