    Virginia became a the first colony in North America. They came in search of gold when they realized there was no gold they started plantation farms.

    The pilgrims sailed across ocean.They meet a Indian named Squanto. Squanto tough them how to grow crops then they had a 3 day feast it was called Thanksgiving.

    At first New York was called New Netherlands. In 1647 Peter Stuyvesant became the governor of New Netherlands. In present day New Nederland is called New York in honor of the Duke of York.

    King Charles I of England gave land to Cecilvas Calvert also know as Lord Baltimore.Maryland was named after King Charles I's wife

    A minister named Tomas Hooker he led about 100 colonist to the Connecticut river. They found the town of Hartford and other towns joined Hartford to make Connecticut.

    King Charles II wanted to start another Colony on this land. He hoped that a settlement would help keep France and Spain out of the area. In 1663 Charles II formed a new Colony South of Virginia and called it Carolina

    England's King George II started another colony to keep the French away from south Carolina. The new colony was named Georgia to honor King George.
