In 1619 Africans were brought over to America to work as slaves for the colonists of Jamestown. -
Mayflower arrives in Cape Cod.
The Mayflower ship arrives in Cape Cod looking to make a new colony. But they did not come for money like most, they came for religious freedom. 101 colonists came on the ship and only 2 died. A native indian named Squanto who could speak english taught them how to plant corn, fish, and hunt. -
First treaty between colonists and natives was signed.
The pilgrims in Plymouth and indians both signed a treaty, a peace pact.
