Germany invades Poland
The Germans quickly invade Poland and swiftly acheive victory through their new blitzkrieg tactics. -
Winter War
After they split Poland with Germany, Soviet Russia invades Finland to show off power and gain territory. This mainly backfires as the Fins display incredible courage and hold back the massive Russian army which outnumbered them 3 to 1 in men, 30 times as many aircraft, and 100 times as many tanks. The Fins were never totally conquered but the Soviets did capture the land where the resources they were after were at. -
Germany invades the Lowlands and France.
Nazis invade France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Also Winston Churchill becomes British Prime Minister. Nazis quickly conquer these tiny countries and France also falls quickly. -
Battle of Britain
A four month long air battle between Germany and Britain takes place over Britain's airspace. After much destruction brought upon Britain's cities and airforce, they achieve a victory over the Germans. -
Nazis invade Russia
Germany invades Russia in Operation Barbarossa begins. The Russians are surprised and fall back quickly as the Germans take large chunks of land. -
Gas Chambers at Auschwitz.
The Germans start to experiment with gas chambers at Auschwitz to see if the will be effective. -
Japan bombs Pearl Harbour
Japan bombs the United States Navy at Pearl Harbour. This causes the United States to be extremely weak in the Pacific. It also causes the United States to enter the war against Japan and Germany. -
Battle of Stalingrad begins
A 7-month battle for Stalingrad took place in which over 2 million people died. The battle swung back and forth but the Russians finally emerged as the victors. -
Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima
The first ever atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan by the United States. It was dropped on a city full of civilians. There were very few survivors. Another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.
