    It was also known as the Chinese Exclusion Act. It was passed by the parliament of Canada banning Chinese immigration to Canada. Ethnic Chinese with British nationality were also banned from Canada as well. Independant Chinese immigration to Canada came after the liberalization of Canada immigration policy in 1967. In 2006 Stephen Harper announced the survivors will be paid $20 000 in compensation.

    Took place in WW2 and refers to the confinment of Japanese Canadians. Many children were brought up in these camps. The government promised they would get their land back. But their land was sold off cheaply in auctions. Many families were sent away. They were sent to prison camps. It is now clear the Japanese Canadians were not a threat. The Canadian government gave a formal apology to all the affected citizens.

    Refers to the adoption of First Nations and Metis children in Canada. It's called the 60's scoop because the highest numbers of adoptions took place in the 1960's and because children were literally 'scooped' from their homes and families. They did this thinking that natives were unable to provide for the needs of their children. First Nations believed it was an act of genocide.
