    This was signed into law by Lyndon Johnson and included programs for his "Great Society". It was to promote health, education, and welfare for the poor.

    Funds are authorized for professional development, instructional materials, special education resources and promotion of parental involvement. Today it is known as "No Child Left Behind".

    Clean Water Restoration Act
    Entitled the Secretary of Interior to cooperate with the Secretary of Agriculture to conduct comprehensive studies of water pollution. Also imposed a $100 fine per day on any pollutant who failed to submit their reports.
