It was around six months after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor, and the United States Navy defeated an Imperial Japanese Navy attack against Midway Atoll. The United States did a lot of damage on the Japanese fleet. The Japanese wanted to lure the United States aircraft carriers into a trap, but it didn’t work because Americans didn’t react like the Japanese had planned. -

Bataan death march
The Battle of Bataan was between Japan and American and Filipino forces because they all wanted control of Bataan. Japan won, and negotiated the surrenders of about 90,000 prisoners of war. They began to move these men to camps. This was known as the Bataan Death March. -

The United States raised their flag on Mount Suribachi, and it was known as the first time the United States had a flag on Japanese territory. -

Hiroshima was part of an atomic bombing during World War ll, and it killed 140,000 people. The Manhattan Project had begun creating nuclear bombs, and two units of Uranium together ended up starting a nuclear chain reaction that caused this nuclear explosion. -
Nagasaki
Nagasaki was also bombed in Japan, which led to the end of World War ll. It was started when the Manhattan Project created nuclear bombs, and in 1945 the United States used these atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. -

This was the day Japan surrendered from the War, officially ending World War ll. -
