Lorenz Ghiberti's art
A man named Lorenz Ghiberti spent 50 years building two pair of bronze doors for the Baptistry. The finished doors were divided into panels which showed a scene from the bible. -

Brunelleschi's Dome
Brunelleschi had an idea to cap a cathedral with a gigantic dome. No dome had been built in Roman times. The people of Florence watched the dome rise slowly. When it was done it stood 370 feet above street level. -

Michaelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. It took him four years to do. His paintings were so detailed and covered the whole ceiling. Even now in modern days tourism is huge in the Sistine Chapel. -

Copernicus studied astronomy and in the 1500's people still believed in Ptolemy's theory that they Earth stood still. However Copernicus didnt agree and came up with a diffrent theory called the sun theory. -

William Gilbert discovered magnetism in 1600. Before Gilbert worked with magnetism he was a doctor and judge for Queen Elizabeth. -
Galileo Galilei Invention!
Galileo Galilei designed the pendulum clock in 1637. He discovered the idea of a pendulum clock when he was in church and saw a lamp swinging back and forth just like the pendulum. -
Robert Hooke's Invention
In 1665 Robert Hooke used a microscope to discover plant cells. He wrote Micrographia, the first book describing observations made through a telescope. -
Gabriel Fahrenheit
Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the mercury thermometer in 1714. The thermometer that he invented is still used in moder day life.
