United States uses first Atomic Bomb
In order to put an end to the war between America and Japan, the United States decided to drop the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. It killed 90,000- 166,000 people total. They named the bomb "Little Boy" and the plane that dropped it was named "Enola Gay". -
United States drops second atomic bomb
Since the first bomb dropped did not accomplish the main goal that the United States was trying to achive, they dropped "Fat Boy", the second atomic bomb over Nagasaki. It had an estimated death toll of 60,000- 80,000. -
Japanese surrender- End of World War II
With the Dropping of two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japanese decited to surrender to the United States. The Japanese themselves were soldiers who never gave up and would fight to the death whether it ment everyone dying or not. So when the United States dropped the two bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they achieved their goal in ending the war between japan and the United States. -
Berlin Blockade begins
The Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies railways and roads of Berlin that was under allied control. The Western Allies organized the Berlin Airlift in response. It brought food and supplies to the people of West Berlin. -
The Berlin Blockade was lifted
The Berlin Blockade was lifted by the Soviet Union, but the Berlin Airlift did not end until October of 1949. Routes were available again. -
State Department stopped sending aid to Chinese Nationalist
With Communism taking over in China, the United States were incapable of preventing the rise of communism in China. They then stopped all aid that they were giving to the Chinese Nationalist. -
Mao Zedong- Communist leader takes over in China
The Chinese lead by Nationalist govenor Chiang Kai-shek, was over thrown by Communist leader Mao Zedong when he over took their capital, Beijing. -
People's Republic of China
When the Communist leader Mao Zedong takes over, he changes the Nation into the People's Republic of China. The Nation of China is now a Communist country. -
Signed treaty between Soviet Union and The People's Republic of China
With the Societ Union and China signing an alliance treaty in the early 1950's, they created a problem between the United States and every other nation that did not want to fall under communist power. With this treaty, the United States and other nations needed to ensure the rest of the world does not fall under communism. -

North Korea invades South Korea in an attempt to unite the country as a whole, ruling it under communism. This event got the United States, and other United Nations, to aid South Korea, thus starting the Korean War.
