He and his wiife were shot in Sarajevo, Bosnia as they were coming from City Hall. Gavrilo Princip, 19 years old, shot the fires with Slavic nationalism in mind, he saw the death of the Archduke as the key that would bind his people to the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
