Sugar Act
The purpose of the Sugar Act was to prevent the colonists from smuggling sugar, coffee, and wine. The right that was violated from this was liberty because when the British were taxing the colonists had no say or representation in government. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act put a tax on every legal document, as well as newspaper, papmhlet, and cards. The property right was mostly violated because Britain taxed them on goods that they didn't have a right to tax them on because they were legal documents. -
The Boston Massacre
British troops opened fire on protestors outside the customs house in Boston. Five colonists died. The right that was violated was life, because there was people that were killed causing people not to be safe. -
Tea Act
This law was made so they colonists could only buy the tea from the East India Company. The property right was violated because they only allowed the colonists to buy one type of tea. -
The Boston Tea Party
The colonists invade the ship that the British had sent over for them to buy tea, because that was the only tea the British was allowing to buy, from the tea act. So the colonists dumped the tea into the harbor. There was no right violated because it was the colonists who did it and not the British.
