The Charleston
The Charleston Dance becomes popular after appearing with the song "The Charleston," by James P. Johnson in the Broadway musical. The dance was traced by to blacks who lived on an island off the coast of Charleson, South Carolina. -
Scopes "Monkey Trial"
Trial begins and would later convict John T. Scopes of teaching the theory of evolution at a Dayton, Tennessee high school, which violated Tennessee law. He was fined $100 for the charge.
