Boer War Ends
The Boer War was a war fought in South Africa between the British empire and the Boers (People with Dutch descent living in South Africa). Britain wanted Canada to send troops but the French Canadians refused. So as a compromise the Prime Minister Sir Wilfred Laurier let anyone who wanted to go sign up. -
Alaskan Boundary Dispute
The Alaskan Boundary Dispute was territorial dispute between Canada and the US. The dispute was over a group of island of the coast of British Columbia. To settle the dispute both governments set up a counsel to vote the council consisted of 3 Americans 2 Canadians and 1 British representative. Eventually the British representative sided with the Americans and we lost the islands. -
Creation of the Canadian Navy
In order to keep up with Germany Britain needed money to fund it's navy. Britain asked Canada for help yet again English-French Canadians were split on the issue. In order to settle the issue Prime Minister Wilfred Laurier built Canada it's own navy. The navy eventually picked up the nick-name "Tin Pot Navy" for being so bad. -
Empress of Ireland Sinks
On May 29 1914 the Empress of Ireland, a Canadian ocean liner was struck by a Norwegian Collier called the SS Storstrad. The Empress was caring over one thousand people who died in the wreck. -
Canada Declares War On Germany
On August 4 Germany invaded Poland to outflank France. This angered Britain because Belgium was a neutral country. Upon hearing this Britain immediately declared War soon after Canada did as well. -

After the attack on Pearl Harbor any Japanese-Canadians who lived near the coast lines were sent into internment camps. While the Japanese Canadians were in these camp there land was seized and never returned. -
The CN Tower Is Complete
The CN Tower is a communications and observation tower in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Standing 553.3 metres (1,815 ft) tall, it was the worlds tallest structure for 33 years and still is the tallest free standing structure. -
Terry Fox Begins Maraton Of Hope
Terry Fox was an aspiring athlete until cancer took his right knee. So Terry Fox decided to run a marathon across canada to help fund money for cancer research. Sadly Terry only made it to Thunder Bay when he found out the caner has spread to his lungs. Terry Fox died at 4:35 at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster on June 19 1981. -
