  • Herbert Hoover Takes office

    Herbert Hoover Takes office
    Hoover easily won the Republican vote; although, he had very little to no previous political experience. Hoover was blamed for a majority of hard times during the great depression, he is most famous for having a city of poor american using boards and scrap metal as houses these where known as Hoovervilles.
  • The Dust Bowl

    The Dust Bowl
    The Dust Bowl or the Dirty Thirties was a period of severe dust storms causing major ecological and agricultural damage to american farm lands in the great plains. This was caused by mounths of droughts were little to no rain at all hit the plains this went with the over farm that was taking place in prior years leading up to this.

    Hoover had a plan to help the failing of the economy for industry and farming and he believed that if he put money into the banks and rail roads he would gain the respect of his peers and of the american people. When it was all over and done with hoover put over 2.2 billion dolaars into this project this just made more americans hat him even more.
  • Bonus Army

    The bonus army was an assemblage of some 43,000 marchers 17,000 World War I veterans, their families who were protesting in Washington D.C. The protest was over the vets wanted to get their checks that were promised to them after fighting in the world war 1. The soldiers set fire to the vets tents and camps.

    Adolf Hitler was appointed as Chancellor by President Hindenburg. He began the famous Nazi party leader. he promised the peolpe of germany that he will get them out of the depression that they have been in. He falsly accused the jews people of being the reason why germany is in it time of depression.

    FDR won the election by a landslide, and it was one of the most critcal elections in US's history. Roosevelt was elected as the 32nd president of the United States. He created the new plan which was a way to try and get the goverment out of debt by creating new government programs

    Was a bill formed of government run programs that FDR created to try and bring America out of the great depression. It was based off of three main idea Relief, Reform and last Recovery. Relief for the unemployed and poor, Recovery for the poor economy, and last Reform for the finacial system

    Father Coughlin attacks FDR, Jews
    Once a very well knowen surpporter of FDR and his views but out of the blue he quickly changed his point of view. He was a Catholic priest who spoke out against Jews and Roosevelt during the 1930s. Hes was one of the first political powers to have his own radio show and had followers listen to him.

    This act is also know as the New Indian Deal. This act was formed by legislation this gave indians some but not all of their rights. This also gave indians the right to do what ever they wanted to do with their land.

    Social Security was a part of FDRs new deal which gave senior citizens money which were sent to them once a month from the goverment. This was a starting place for many new government plans during the great deprssion.

    The Neutrality Acts were many acts that were aimed towards the prevention of another war that America would have to be involved with. Many rumors say that these were created because of talks that America's involvement in WWI were based on loans and trades with the Allies.
  • GM Sit-Down Strike

    Starting in 1939 was a strike put on by workers of Genral Moters. These workers formed the UAW "UNITED AUTO WORKERS". these strikes were popular because of the way they were handled the workers sat down and would not work until they got what they wanted.

    The Grapes Of Wrath is a novel published in 1939 and written by John Steinbeck, who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1940 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962. Its was about a family of farmers in Oklahoma who had to leave their farm for the north because of the drought.

    This was a horrible 6 week war that toke place in japan. Also over 80,000 rapes were reported by Japanese women against the soldiers that were fighting in this war. Many of the Survivors were tied up and used for pratice for the army
